2987ts TETRAHEDRITE, QUARTZ, PYRITE, $35 minimum bid, Ophir Hill Mine, Ophir District, Tooele County, Utah, 8 x 8 x 5 cm, Cabinet | |
In the past only a few of these Tetrahedrite trickled out from mineral collectors. No source was found just stray specimens. Specimens are covered with Calcite which must be etched with HCl to reveil the Tetrahedrite (so harder yet to collect). No large vugs or source were found. The Scheelite specimens were also covered with Calcite but much more plentiful than the Tetrahedrites or Bournonites which were an anomaly when looking for Scheelites. In most cases the few Bournonite specimens are destroyed by the HCl. |
