9iddb.is  ((THENARDITE pseudomorph after MIRABILITE)),  $15 MINIMUM BID, Settling Ponds West of Open Pit Mine, Open Pit Mine, Kramer Borate Deposit, Boron, Kern County, California,  7 x 1 x 1 cm, Cabinet

Here is a rare pseudomorph collecting by Jim Minette in the Settling Ponds west of the Open Pit Mine at Boron.  These are extremely delicate like thin eggshells.  This one was coated with something to preserve the crystals.  This one is not as delicated as most of these.  Handling requires light handling without any pressure to the specimen.   Shipping will be in a box filled with very soft and light quilting fiber and I believe will arrive without damage, especially since this one with the coating is not as delicate as many of these.  Rare and normally not seen at all on the market and are very expensive when found on the high end websites when they occasionally get them out of collections that are purchased.  Most must have been broken and may have only been a one time occurance.  This one has the elongated crystal habit.  This one is broken off from another cystal and the bottom is open and does not have the preservative over it.  It is filled with a white powder from the crystal similar to what happens to Laumontite.    ex Jim Minette collection.
