b78 WULFENITE, Ahumada Mine, Los Lamentos, Chihuahua, Mexico, 3.3 x 2.5 x 1.6 cm | |
At first there appears to be no matrix but closer looks shows a small area of matrix. Most of the specimen is made up of small yellow orange lustrous gemmy crystals of Wulfenite. The Wulfenite crystals are clustered together and grown one on top of the other in mass. The darker orange red areas look more like Vanadinite with hexagonal hoppered crystals. This red orange ? Vanadinite is secondary and grown over some of the original Wulfenite. Crystals are small and best viewed with an optivisor or loop. Colorful and interesting combination. |
