10hlnwirs  ((VESUVIANITE variety CYPRINE, ANDRADITE, CALCITE)),   $100 MINIMUM BID, Franklin Mine, Franklin, Sussex County, New Jersey,   8.5 x 7 x 6 cm,  Cabinet

Here is a specimen from the Neil Wintringham collection of New Jersey.  Mindat.org says Cyprine is a blue variety of Vesuvianite colored by  traces of Copper.  Brown is Andradite and white is Calcite.  It must be rare although mindat.org has a few photos from Franklin, I have never previously seen it or heard of it.  The dealer liquidating the collection for the family had $150 on it and all the other specimens that I was familiar with were very reasonably priced to sell quickly.  I bought many flats of specimens I picked out one at a time. I ended up getting a little discount off the asking prices for buying so much which was better yet.  Most I already sold on the auction but there were a few I could not part with like the flexible sandstone specimen that I also was not previously familiar with.

Sold For: $158
