shr CALCITE, Ophir Hill Mine, Ophir District, Tooele County, Utah, 8 x 5.5 x 5 cm, Cabinet | |
Flatten rhombs of white to colorless Calcite crystals which are also stacked on a matrix covered with small terminated Quartz crystals. Calcite is weakly fluorescent red orange. These are the typical specimens which have been collected, then the Calcite dissolved with HCl to reveal small fluorescent Scheelite crystals. This specimen is different in that the Calcite crystals do not completely cover the matrix and it looks like Scheelites are not present. Also the Calcites are typically dinged and damaged. This specimen has the Calcites in great shape. |
