 | Here is an excellent Utah Park City Sphalerite. Undamaged specimen with undamaged contact on the back side where it pulled away from a larger cluster or the wall. Cleavage, Pyrite, etc on the bottom of the specimen. This came out in the 70's or 80's when the large Tetrahedrite find was made. Only a very few Sphalerite specimens. The base matrix is a combo Pyrite, Sphalerite, and Tetrahedrite. There is 8 mm cubic Pyrite with small corner octahedral modification penetrating the Sphalerite. The Sphalerite also appears twinned. This actually has not been cleaned and would clean up with an ultrasonic cleaner or water gun. The white areas in the photos would be eliminated. |
